Between 2019 and 2022, SWIETELSKY carried out an extensive railway project on the Ringsted–Femern section as part of the upgrade of the connection to the Fehmarn Belt. The project included both speed upgrades and a comprehensive reconstruction of the track system, contributing to a more efficient, robust, and future-proof railway infrastructure.

The work involved manual track reconstruction as well as the mechanical installation of new rails and ties using track-laying trains. In addition, a total of 58.5 km of track was adjusted and profiled. The project also included the installation of 50 new switches, which were laid using a rail-mounted crane, as well as the extension and reinforcement of ballast shoulders.

As part of the project, we performed extensive ballast, welding, and stress-relief work, as well as drainage and water management solutions, including guided drilling and pipe installation. At the stations in Vordingborg and Nykøbing Falster, new drainage systems and inspection wells were supplied and installed, along with other environmental, platform, and earthworks.

The project exemplifies SWIETELSKY’s expertise in complex track renewal and upgrade projects, where capacity, quality, and long-term operational reliability are key priorities.
