From January to October 2025, SWIETELSKY is carrying out a comprehensive track renewal project on the railway section between Skjern and Holstebro. The project involves a thorough renewal and upgrade of the railway infrastructure, with a focus on operational reliability, capacity, and long‑term, sustainable solutions.

The works include both mechanised and manual renewal of a total of 23 km of rails, sleepers, and track formation, along with extensive ballast and drainage works. Platform renewal at Lem Station is being carried out, together with the upgrading of turnouts and the construction of transition zones, underpasses, and selected level crossings. In addition, the project includes rail stress adjustment, installation of insulated glued joints, and comprehensive track alignment works.

The scope also comprises the establishment and upgrading of drainage systems, including culverts and catch pits, regulation of shoulders, ditches, and slopes, and treatment of soft ground areas. Cable relocations and the construction of new cable routes, ducting, access roads, and high‑voltage installations are likewise an integral part of the project.

The works are executed in stages, with commissioning approval granted for each stage, and are carried out with adjacent tracks kept in operation. The project is characterised by a high level of complexity, involving multiple disciplines and interfaces with parallel contracts and other stakeholders, placing strong demands on coordination, railway safety, and the working environment.

The project demonstrates SWIETELSKY’s experience in managing and delivering large and highly complex track renewal projects, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and efficient use of resources.
